Welcome to the Italian Spinone Society of Scotland

Spinone launch party

In June 2019 we had a wonderful Italian Spinone Society of Scotland re-launch party! It was an amazing day with fun filled events such as agility classes, Spinone grooming demonstrations and games. Spinone enthusiasts travelled from far and wide for what can be described as a  Spinonefest!!

About the breed

Thinking of owning a Spinone? We can offer you advice and support to help you decide if they are the breed for you. Remember they are a working gundog and need plenty of mental and physical exercise. Things to consider before you take the plunge.

Caring for your Spinone

Taken the plunge? You now have your bundle of joy at home. What next? We can help you care for your dog throughout what we hope will be a happy and healthy long life. Grooming, feeding, exercise, first aid, teething, insurance, heights and weights, to neuter or not, you name it, we will have experience of it.

About us

We’re glad you found us. We love Italian Spinone too! Our Society is all about the Italian Spinone breed, their welfare and our life together. We know there’s nothing more important in life than a Happy Spinone!
This Society was originally formed by the wonderful Val Smith and many other Spinone enthusiasts over 20 years ago! We currently have over 600 members from 29 countries around the world.

For my 18th my mum gifted me my first Spinone called Sylvester Spinone. I remember picking him up from Edinburgh Airport and literally couldn't put him down.

30 years later, my love for Spinoni has never ceased and I take great pride in continuing my mothers great work which started 20 years ago. We have 7 Spinoni; Edward (8), Boo (4), Valentino (4), Theodore (4), Lilly (3), Atlas (3) and Bella Bella Bum Bum (1.5) and last but not least, little baby May who is just over a week old!!!!!!!!

I met my first Spinone over 20 years ago and fell in love.  I had always had labs in the past but made up my mind that the Italian Spinone would be our next dog. 8 years ago my dream came true and Cesca joined our family.

We now also have her daughter Diva (3), her son Bruno (18months), and Rocky (14) who we rescued just over 2 years ago. They all have a lovely life with a big garden and lots of walks to stimulate the senses - I also run the Highland Spinoni Walking Group and it amazes me how far people will travel to join us and that we can have so many dogs off lead together and never a cross woof.

My love for the Italian Spinoni happened when I first met “Bella” who was owned by Val & Victoria Smith (my mother in law and sister in law) – She was beautiful and the epitome of the Italian Spinone in my eyes. Next was Sylvester, a brown boy to arrive at Javal.  I was the lucky enough to be gifted Harvey from Val – my gorgeous “Javal Urban Spaceman JW” – I had lots of fun with this soft, gentle boy.

My other love is my four cocker spaniel lads. I show Callum & Lucas most weekends and we do well around the shows including Crufts. I am also a Kennel Club Good Citizen Examiner for Bronze & Silver and I enjoy that one to one spent with my boys.

I am a proud Spinone Dad and met Victoria and her pack of Spinoni 8 years ago whilst serving in the Military. Yes, that's me kissing Valentino in the back of the family motor home - enough said really!!
